Malshej Shivneri Tent City Agro Tourism                          Call-7977153733 The fort is quite ancient. Remnants of Microlithic man have been discovered here. The various Puranas (ancient scriptures) like Matsyapurana, Agnipurana and Skandapurana include many references about Harishchandragad. Its origin is said to have been in the 6th century, during the rule of Kalachuri dynasty. The citadel was built during this era. The various caves probably have been carved out in the 11th century. In these caves are idols of Lord Vishnu. Though the cliffs are named Taramati and Rohidas, they are not related to Ayodhya. Great sage Changdev (one who created the epic Tatvasaar), used to meditate here in the 14th century. The caves are from the same period. The various constructions on the fort and those existing the surrounding region point to the existence of diverse cultures here. The carvings on the temples of Nageshwar (...

This is one of the range treks in Sahyadri which connects two holy places of Hatkeshwar and Lenyadri. There are no forts en route this trek but we do come across some naturally formed caves, needle holes and man-made caves at Lenyadri. At the end of rainy season many flowers do bloom in this region. It takes about 3 hours from Godre which is the base village to reach Hatkeshwar and further 2 hours to see in and around Hatkeshwar area. Hatkeshwar to Lenyadri is about 4 hours trail. Thus it takes about 8 to 9 hours to complete the trail from Hatkeshwar to Lenyadri.

Malshej Shivneri Tent City Agro Tourism Call-7977153733 During the reign of the Satavahana (c. 230 BCE – 230 CE), the Naneghat pass was one of the trade routes. It connected the Konkan coast communities with Deccan high plateau through Junner.Literally, the name nane means "coin" and ghat means "pass". The name is given because this path was used as a tollbooth to collect toll from traders crossing the hills. According to Charles Allen, there is a carved stone that from distance looks like a stupa, but is actually a two-piece carved stone container by the roadside to collect tolls. The scholarship on the Naneghat Cave inscription began after William Sykes found them while hiking during the summer of 1828.Neither an archaeologist nor epigraphist, his training was as a statistician and he presumed that it was a Buddhist cave temple. He visited the site several times and made eye-copy (hand drawings) of the script panel he saw on the left and the right side of the wa...
